Our logo represents the purpose of the Leave No Girl Behind movement – to empower girls while recognizing and raising awareness that they hold the world in their hands; they will literally give birth to the future! If the world is to be transformed, they are the instruments to make this change.
For this reason, our logo is comprised of two X chromosomes (representative of a female embryo, or more broadly, a girl/future woman) holding the world up high. And of course, the “LNGB” on the globe stands for “Leave No Girl Behind”.
(Just an interesting fact: It is the male who is responsible for the gender of his newly conceived child since males have an X and a Y chromosome – if a sperm cell containing an X chromosome fertilizes an egg, the resulting zygote will be XX or female. If the sperm cell contains a Y chromosome, then the resulting zygote will be XY or male.)
